ADULT EDUCATION
Adult Education programs provide assistance to adults in learning academic skills necessary for career advancement and lifelong learning. These programs include: Adult Basic Education (ABE); English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL); General Education Development (GED) preparation; and Vocational Preparatory Instruction (VPI). Lake Tech Adult Education classes are offered on the main campus and at various sites throughout Lake County. See below for a list of sites along with testing and orientation dates.

• ESOL is offered to adult students needing instruction in English language acquisition. This program is offered at no charge and is available days or evenings. ESOL Schedule for the 08-09 school year. For additional program information, view the Master Plan of Instruction.
• GED is a preparation program that prepares students for the Florida high school equivalency test through an individualized course of study. This program is offered at no charge and is available days or evenings. Upon completion of study and passing the official GED test, students will be awarded a Florida High School Diploma.

Important Announcement: Beginning in January of 2009 the cost to take the GED exam will increase from $50 to $70. The cost to retest on failed portions of the exam will increase from $10 to $14 per failed portion. Cash only payments are accepted. View the general GED information sheet for addtional information.
• VPI is a support program for students who need to improve skills in reading, math, and/or language to meet the requirements for a vocation program. Students are evaluated and individual study plans are designed for each subject needing remediation. Students work at their own pace using varied materials that provide constant feedback and evaluation. VPI is offered days and evenings. There is no charge for students who have not earned a high school diploma or for those high school graduates scoring less than a ninth grade level on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). - Complete a LTC application in the Admissions Office at the Lake Tech main campus
- Pay a $10.00, non-refundable, registration fee
- Receive a picture ID and parking permit
- Take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
- Register in the VPI lab for ABE, GED, or Vocational Preparatory Instruction
Admissions procedures for ESOL applicants:
- Complete a registration form in the ESOL classroom at the main campus Mon/Wed/Fri
- Pay a $10.00, non-refundable, registration fee
- Receive a picture ID and parking permit
- Take the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) placement test at the Lake Tech main campus on Wednesday
- Report to your assigned site on the first Monday of the month
