EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

250 hour, part-time evening program that prepares an individual for an entry-level position in emergency medical services. MASSAGE THERAPY

750 hour day time certificate program designed to teach the student the art of touch and manipulation of superficial tissues of the body through Swedish Massage. Varied modalities including hydrotherapy, paraffin and steam. Upon completion of the program the student is eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam leading to Florida Licensure. PARAMEDIC

1100 hour part-time day program designed to establish and maintain appropriate quality education for those wishing to become specialists in pre-hospital emergency medical care. The curriculum is comprehensive, and includes theory, clinical application, and hands-on field internship and also requires the person to be certified in EMT as well as CPR. PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT: NURSING ASSISTANT/HOME HEALTH AIDE and PATIENT CARE ASSISTANT

290 hour program will prepare an individual to administer nursing care to patients in a long-term care facility and in the home. Students will attend classes in the school lab and long-term care facility. A two-day home health agency experience is included in the training. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will sit for the state nursing assistant test and receive certification through the Department of Professional Regulations. PRACTICAL NURSING

1350 hour (11-month) program offered days, evenings and part time. The program is comprehensive and includes classroom, lab, and clinical experiences. Students are involved in planning and performing nursing care and the administration of medication. Students receive experience in hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, health department, clinics, and mental health facilities. The student must provide daily transportation to school and health care facilities. The application process for the full-time day PN program will begin in March. The application process for the full-time afternoon/evening PN program will begin in October. The application process for the part-time eveing/weekend PN program will begin July 7, 2008, and end on August 11, 2008.

    The following are the required steps to apply for the program:
  1. Complete a Lake Technical Center (LTC) application.
  2. Take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) if you do not have a college degree exemption.
  3. Discuss TABE results or degree exemption with a LTC counselor.
  4. Counselor will direct you to pay for the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and proceed to the Health Science Education Office to schedule a TEAS reservation and receive specific PN application information.
